Summary of the 2025 Big Dig

High Meadow

Two 1m x 3m trenches were dug. One was placed over the edge of a circular feature from the geophysics scan. A deep post hole was revealed. One trench had few modern finds suggesting it had been undisturbed, whilst the other trench had some more recent blue and white pottery.
Borough Hill

Several gardens had a 1 x 1m test pit. Evidence was found of past brewing and farming activities.

The Avenue

A 1m x 2m trench in one garden revealed an interesting mix of Victorian and some earlier finds including worked flint and early Romano British pottery.

The Spain

Several gardens have been explored by Liss Archaeology. In 2025 a 1 x 2m trench in one garden uncovered Tudor bricks and remains of part of a pre-Victorian structure.
